Microsoft Philippines has just entered a tie-up with the makers of the popular tablet game Contre Jour so that gamers can play it on Internet Explorer 10 (IE10).
?
Contre Jour was the best-selling game on Apple's 2011 App Store Charts, and Microsoft is porting it to IE10 to make it available to users outside the Apple ecosystem.
?
?
?This partnership ?similar to our past initiatives with Cut the Rope, Pulse and Atari? is part of our continued effort to showcase the infinite possibilities with the web today,? said Jonathan Wong, Microsoft Internet Explorer Lead for Asia Pacific.
?
?With features like multi-touch, Contre Jour showcases the heightened gaming experience once IE10 is available to the world with Windows 8 starting October 26,? he added.
Gameplay
?
Conter Jour was designed by Ukraine-based developer Maksym "Max" Hryniv. The game's goal is to guide Petit, the one-eyed lead character through 30 levels to the ?blue light? and rescue the rose, his object of interest.
?
Getting there isn't so easy, with the player needing to swipe, pull, and tap on the screen to transform the terrain that Petit is traversing.
?
While the tactile playing experience has been a huge success on the iPad, Hryniv believes that it will also be hit on Windows platforms as well.
?
?Contre Jour runs best with the new Windows 8 touch device and IE10. ?It also works great in IE9 on a Windows 7 PC, or any other modern browser,? he said.?
?
Contre Jour will also be playable with a mouse and keyboard, but the last 10 levels will be exclusively multi-touch enabled.
?
?Internet Explorer 10 enables Contre Jour gamers with a fast and fluid multi-touch experience,? said John Pineda, a gaming expert and Microsoft Student Partner from the College of St. Benilde.
Atari Arcade and Pulse
?
?Since Contre Jour displays countless elements, it uses four or more canvases in tandem. Only IE10 can stitch these canvasses wonderfully for a fast and seamless performance,? he pointed out.
?
Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 also offers other classic retro games, via Atari Arcade. The game hub features eight vintage 8-bit games including Pong, Asteroids, Missile Command, and Centipede.
?
Atari Arcade is recommended to run on IE9 on a Windows 7 PC or on IE10 on a Windows 8 touch device.
?
Microsoft also offers Pulse, a news aggregator, that allows users to easily browse and share stories on important topics. ? TJD, GMA News
